Johnny has taken India by storm with his pioneering excursions in everything deep, tech and funky. He has played in all the best clubs in every city along with 2 back to back performances at Asia's largest Dance Festival, Sunburn in 2009/10. Sunburn organizer and MTV host Nikil Chinapa rated Johnny's DJ performance at Sunburn 2009 as his favorite Festival moment. An event that saw the best DJs in the world perform in Goa.
He has also been keenly followed by the media having appeared in such publications as Time Out, The Times of India, Hindustani times and more.
His first asian DJ experience was way back in 2001 in Tokyo. On more than one occasion, clubs were unable to shut their doors because the folk were rocking to Johnny Deep's sound even past 9AM. His early sets were a seduction in deep house, but later on, he was well known to whip a crowd into a frenzie with his blazing style of deep tech funky beats.
It was not long before his residency at G Martinis...Tokyo's freshest club, that he created a demand for his DJ Talents. Promoters in Tokyo were keen to promote his musical message. His deep get down vibe coupled with sublime mixing techniques were heard at some of Tokyo's finest establishments including Club Asia and the reknowned Space Lab Yellow.
In 1993 johnny began crafting a career in music by hosting his first radio show 'Grooves' on Sydney's 99.3FM. He quickly gained loyal listeners and went on to host a total of eight radio shows. His voice and his music have been heard on Nova FM, Fresh FM, 2SER FM and RTR FM in Perth. He's also been the exclusive presenter for The Ministry of Sound, presenting their Club Nation Shows on Wild FM and Rhythm FM.
In recent times, Johnny has taken radio to a whole new level by 'branding' the deep music concept in his recent radio shows, called Expansions. On 99.3 FM, Expansions is a journey in nu jazz, broken beats, soul and deep house, while Expansions on Pulse Radio is more of a dance floor affair, yet still keeping its deep and musical integrity.
Currently he is now the exclusive RJ for Smirnoff India.
Johnny was born in the UK but is no stranger to Australian shores. His technical skills were confirmed in 2001 when he was the finalist in the DJ EXPO 2001 DJ Competition. Since then,he has made appearances at some of Sydney's cooler clubs and has hosted his own club events including 'Audio Station' at the World Niteclub. This event showcased some of Sydney's finest DJ and live talent in 3 rooms with Johnny mixing it up in the main room.
Since leaving Australian shores in 2007, He has continued to spread his deepness through Thailand, Spain and almost every city in India.
He also released 2 outstanding EPs which have picked up support from Jalabee Cartel, Greg Stainer, Garcy Noise and more.
